Por conta disso, a tecnologia do leitor na tela (chamada de FOD, na sigla em inglês) tem se tornado popular nos devices orientais, sobretudo com as fabricantes Vivo e Huawei.

Entretanto, esta não é a principal vantagem do OnePlus 6T, já que o botão do seu antecessor ficava na parte de trás do dispositivo. Segundo a empresa, a adição desta função “reduz a quantidade de passos” para que o usuário desbloqueie o dispositivo, já que, atualmente, grande parte dos aparelhos com botão de leitura de digital exige que o usuário pressione o dedo no leitor para que o reconhecimento aconteça. A fabricante também informou que o aparelho terá leitor de reconhecimento facial. Com essa mudança, é provável que o OnePlus 6T seja mais fino, já que não precisará carregar o botão que ficava na parte de trás.
